Hyeri took the role of Song Doksun the second daughter of Song Dongil in TvN top drama 'Reply 1988'. The point is to find the female protagonist's husband. Hyeri has undergoing her acting career, start from 'Tasty Life', 'Seonam Girls High School Investigators', and 'Hyde, Jekyll, Me'. But, Reply 1988 is the third series of Reply and people were worried of how young Hyeri would fit the point of this work.
In the meantime, Shin Wonho PD and Lee Woojung scriptwriter had chosen a lot of newcomers and unknown actors, but people misunderstood Hyeri chosen because she got a free ride as popular idol not because of her acting ability. Moreover, when she acted as a girl who had a one sided love with Hyunbin in 'Hyde, Jekyll, Me', her excessive vocalization and facial expression because of her bouncy character was also the reason (of people's worry). Instead of acted pretty, Hyeri act foolishly and chose to challenge acting as charming character and receive a support.
The 'Reply1988' deals with the story of five families in the background Ssangmun-dong Seoul when Olympics were held in 1988.
